THE DISTILLED SPIRITS COUNCIL OF THE UNITED STATES ANNOUNCES NEW DIRECTOR OF LIFESTYLE COMMUNICATIONS

Washington, D.C. – October 1, 2001, The Distilled Spirits Council of the United States today announced the appointment of Beth Ellen Davies as the new Director of Lifestyle Communications for the Office of Public Affairs and Communications. “We are excited to have someone with Ms. Davies diverse entertainment, consumer and distilled spirits public relations background join the Council,” said Dr. Peter H. Cressy, President and CEO. “She brings a new energy, talent and enthusiasm to our lifestyle public relations programs and initiatives.” Ms. Davies will manage the Council’s lifestyle public relations programs, including overseeing the very successful “Simple Pleasures” program and various other initiatives. Most recently, Ms. Davies was the Public Relations Manager at Schieffelin & Somerset, the New York-based joint venture between Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy and Guinness UDV. While there, she managed public relations campaigns for brands including Moet, Dom Perignon, Grand Marnier and Johnnie Walker. Prior to this, Ms. Davies was a Senior Account Executive at the entertainment public relations firm of Rogers & Cowan, managing a variety accounts and initiatives for Fortune 500 companies including Kraft, Microsoft and Johnson & Johnson and consumer packaged goods such as LifeSavers, Oreos and SKYY Spirits. Earlier in her career, Ms. Davies worked for the Department of Environmental Protection for the State of Connecticut as the Public Outreach Coordinator for the Office of Long Island Sound Programs. Ms. Davies earned a BA in Political Science and a concentration in Marine Affairs from the University of Rhode Island, where she also interned for United States Senator John H. Chafee. The Distilled Spirits Council of the United States, Inc. (DISCUS) is a national trade association representing producers and marketers of distilled spirits sold in the United States. Our members' quality products include the full spectrum of distilled spirits such as Bourbon, Scotch and other whiskeys, vodka, gin, tequila, rum, brandy, cordials and liqueurs. The distillers take special pride in their products as well as in their efforts to encourage responsible beverage alcohol consumption by those adults who choose to drink.
