Press Statement in Response to a Petition Filed 12/16/03 With the TTB to Include Nutirition Information on Labels

December 15, 2003 07:00 PM
Below is a press statement by Distilled Spirits Council President Peter H. Cressy in response to a petition filed today with the Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) by consumer and public health groups to include nutrition information on distilled spirits, beer and wine labels. The Distilled Spirits Council supports providing U.S. consumers with reliable, useful information about what they eat or drink. The petition filed today would require the addition of basic nutrition facts for beverage alcohol products. Some beverage alcohol products already have this information on their packaging. We look forward to providing our views to TTB during any rulemaking proceedings which may evolve.
