Visit George Washington's Distillery

The distillery is located three miles from the Mount Vernon estate, next door to the site of George Washington's gristmill, which has been reconstructed and operates as an 18th century mill.

Hours:

Daily, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. -- April 1 through October 31

Directions:

From Washington, DC/Memorial Bridge
Cross the Memorial Bridge, heading toward Arlington National Cemetery. While you are on the bridge, get in the center lane. At the circle on the Virginia side, go to the right, following the sign “George Washington Parkway” (do not head to “Arlington Cemetery”). Just after the circle, take the left hand exit, marked “Parkway South/Alexandria/Mount Vernon.” Once on the Parkway, follow the signs to National Airport and continue south, through Alexandria. The Parkway is renamed “Washington Street” in Alexandria. Mount Vernon is eight miles south of Alexandria, located at the large traffic circle at the end of the Parkway.

From Washington DC/14th St. Bridge
Cross the 14th Street Bridge, heading to Virginia. While on the bridge, move to the far right lane. Take the second exit on the right, which is marked “Parkway South/Alexandria/Mount Vernon.” Once on the Parkway, follow the signs to National Airport and continue south, through Alexandria. The Parkway is renamed “Washington Street” in Alexandria. Mount Vernon is eight miles south of Alexandria, located at the large traffic circle at the end of the Parkway.

Once you reach Mount Vernon
The site of George Washington’s Distillery is on the grounds of George Washington’s Gristmill. The mill is located 3 miles west of Mount Vernon’s main entrance on Mount Vernon Memorial Highway (SR235).

Proceed to the traffic circle in front of the Mount Vernon Inn (stay in center lane). At the stop sign, continue straight through intersection. This road is now Route 235 South. Stay on this road about 2 miles, passing through three stoplights. The gristmill and distillery site are on the right side along Dogue Run Creek, just before Route 1. Parking is on the right.
