NEW YORK – The Distilled Spirits Council, The Weekly Standard, The Economist and Roll Call will join forces to celebrate “Spirits of New York” during the Republican National Convention. The event, Tuesday, Aug. 31, from 9:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. at the New York Yacht Club – one of Manhattan’s most elegant and legendary private clubs – will honor Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist and feature a Cigar Aficionado-sponsored outdoor VIP cigar lounge, one of the very few New York City smoking venues. “We look forward to a lively evening filled with the finest spirits from around the world, amazing specialty cocktails paired with fresh seafood, and tastings of our members’ rare, ultrapremium spirits products,” said Peter Cressy, President of the Distilled Spirits Council. Hundreds of VIPs are expected to attend the invitation-only, 21-and-up event, including high-level Administration officials, Members of Congress, Governors, senior Congressional staff and campaign aides, as well as many prominent members of the national media.
