DISTILLED SPIRITS COUNCIL TOASTS HOSPITALITY AT 'SPIRITS OF BOSTON' -- Partners with The Economist, The New Republic, Roll Call in Convention Event

July 18, 2004 08:00 PM
BOSTON – The Distilled Spirits Council will toast hospitality with The Economist, Roll Call and The New Republic when they turn the popular nightclub Anthem into one of the most talked-about late-night events of the Democratic National Convention July 26. The event, named “Spirits of Boston,” features special guest Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle. More than 500 other guests are expected at the invitation-only event, including Members of Congress, senior Congressional staff and campaign aides, as well as prominent members of the national media. Anthem, recently named one of Boston’s hottest scenes for nightlife, is two blocks from the Fleet Center, the official convention site. “Spirits of Boston will be a memorable night for everyone who attends,” said Peter Cressy, President of the Distilled Spirits Council. “By working so closely with our partners in the media, we have ensured an impressive guest list of the convention’s key players, which promises to make for an exciting evening.” DISCUS will feature tastings of its members’ finest superpremium products. Live entertainment will be performed by the Marianne Solivan Quintet, a renowned Boston jazz ensemble. Vonage, a telecommunications firm and associate co-sponsor, will provide demonstrations of its state-of-the-art voice-over IP telephony system. The Council will partner with The Economist, Roll Call, The Weekly Standard and Cigar Aficionado to host “Spirits of New York” August 31 during the Republican National Convention.
