DISTILLED SPIRITS COUNCIL NAMES HILL VETERAN VICE PRESIDENT OF FEDERAL AFFAIRS

The Distilled Spirits Council today announced that David Culver, a senior staffer for a number of senators, has joined the association as Vice President of Federal Affairs. Culver comes to the Council from the office of Senator Ben Nelson (D-Nebraska), where he served as Senior Legislative Advisor. Previously he worked in the offices of Sens. Bob Kerrey (D-Nebraska), Robert C. Byrd (D-West Virginia), and Tom Daschle (D-South Dakota). “David brings a wealth of experience to the Distilled Spirits Council federal government lobbying team,” said Council President Dr. Peter Cressy. “His insight and Hill experience will prove invaluable as the Council addresses the numerous federal legislative and regulatory issues facing the distilled spirits industry.” Culver will serve as the Council’s Democratic liaison to Capitol Hill, joining Republican liaison Michele Famigletti and Senior Vice President Mark Gorman in the distillers organization’s federal government affairs shop. He replaces Matt Stanton who was hired by member company, Allied Domecq Spirits & Wine North America. A native of Tennessee, Culver received a BA in Government from Hamilton College in 1995. He now resides in Washington, D.C. The Distilled Spirits Council of the United States is the national trade association representing producers and marketers of distilled spirits sold in the United States. Members include Allied Domecq Spirits and Wine North America, Bacardi U.S.A., Barton Incorporated, A.
