Distilled Spirits Council Hosts Seminar and Tasting in Bulgaria and Romania Featuring Super Premium American Spirits

September 12, 2005 08:00 PM
Bulgaria and Romania – The Distilled Spirits Council of the United States hosted a seminar and tasting of super premium American whiskies, vodka and liqueurs for importers, restaurant and nightclub owners, managers, bartenders and spirits buyers at locations in Romania and Bulgaria this week. The events -- celebrating the taste, style and sophistication of American distilled spirits -- kicked off with an exploration of the history of American whiskies presented by Master Distiller Chris Morris of Louisville, Kentucky-based Brown-Forman, the maker of such fine products as Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey, Southern Comfort Liqueur, and Woodford Reserve Bourbon. Morris also led attendees through a tasting of many of the greatest American whiskies from a variety of U.S. producers. Participants were able to fully appreciate the complex flavors that are derived from the natural ingredients and the unique aging process. Later, the group discovered the style and sophistication of cocktails made with American distilled spirits during mixology sessions presented by local experts, who demonstrated the unique mixed drinks that can be created with these fine products. In Sofia, Bulgaria, the event also featured a Food Pairing demonstration led by Mr. Uti Bachvarov, famous chef of the television show Delicious!, that highlighted how American spirits drinks can compliment meals and entertaining. The event concluded with a reception featuring American spirits and a number of signature cocktails. “American distilled spirits such as Bourbon and Tennessee Whiskey offer an amazing range of sophisticated flavors,” said Distilled Spirits Council Senior Vice President Frank Coleman. “Whether served straight, over ice, or in simple, creative cocktails, these drinks are great for entertaining and are rapidly growing in popularity throughout Europe.” -30- CONTACT: Public Affairs Department Telephone: 202-682-8840 SCROLLER Publication Name: Publication Author:
